M.2 2242 SSD size is too small, can not do dual-channel, it can not take the PCIe channel, it can not pass the NVMe protocol.
If GPD WIN 2 is capable of SSD 2280 specs, it can take PCIe lanes and NVMe protocols.

I think games would do more reading, at least when you first turn them on.
Using USB for virtual memory:
Normally, virtual memory (page file) uses a computer's main storage disk to extend the computer's memory. However, the system also reads from and writes to the main storage disk a lot for other tasks. It can only do one of these tasks at a time, so if it's reading from one place, it puts the rest of the reading and writing tasks on a waiting list until it finishes. If it's reading and writing data files and reading and writing page files to the same drive, it can slow the system down considerably. That's part of why the old budget computers from department stores were so slow; They had small amounts of RAM, so the systems relied heavily on page files for their memory. When those computers used the older, slower, spinning drives for everything like this, it slowed the systems down a whole bunch.
So! If you use a USB stick for page files, then the system is reading your operating system, game, and data files from the storage drive and writing memory tasks to the RAM and USB stick independently, speeding up the process. It worked very well for older desktop and laptop PCs, before the advent of solid state drives (SSDs) and hybrid drives. Windows even offered it as an option in the pop-up menu when you plugged in a USB stick: It said something to the effect of "Boost your PC," and it would let you set up your USB stick as virtual memory. I never tried it, but my brother said it helped speed up an older computer of his. Solid state devices also have a limited number of read/write cycles, so using a separate drive for virtual memory might help extend the life or our drives. Granted, I've used a solid state drive in a mini laptop with little RAM for years and haven't worn it out yet, so I'm confident it won't be a problem for us.
I've not yet used SSDs or M.2 drives in high-performance devies or situations such as our beloved GPD Win 2, so I don't know how much it may impact performance. It may not matter much anymore, because I know these newer drives are a lot faster than older, mechanical drives.
A lot of people would like to see bigger RAM options (I would as well, but I know there are reasons for the limitations). Personally, I'd like to see a GPD Win with a higher-spec processor. The Core m3 is more or less the replacement for the Atom processor, and both are more mobile-focused than performance-focused. I know it isn't possible for Win 2 due to size, heat, power needs, and cost, but it would be awesome to see a device with an i5 or even i7 in a small, gamer-centric form factor like this. Maybe for GPD Win 3...
Even so, I have to say that after watching Phawx's playtesting and reviews, Win 2 looks pretty awesome.
Only one more day!
There's a link to the Indiegogo page in the first post. I'm posting as a guest, and it won't let me copy the link here.

As long as Micro SD card read and write speeds up to 80MB, most games will not card.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS INFORMATION SERIOUSLY
Dear GPD team,
thanks for a wonderful device and campaign, congratulations on almost 2000 preorders already!
But I'd like give you some insights, an useful information for a delivery to every Russian backer (and there are many of them, including myself). As I understand the situation, you won't ship your devices to Russia via DHL, using a EMS instead. Now I must tell you that I'm working in EMS Russia, so I took this very seriously: unfortunately, Russian Post (EMS Russia is a subordinate of Russian Post) is infamous for very bad and careless treatment of parcels. Parcels from aboard often damaged during transportation and sometimes during internal processing in airports and EMS centers. Sometimes it's our fault and sometimes isn't. So here are few rules that can keep your Russian backers happy and secure:
1. Please use a brand new box made of firm cardboard, preferably multilayered and with film coating to avoid water damage. Unfortunately, quite often Chinese senders are going in a cheap way of reusing the shabby cardboard boxes that seen the better days. In results, these boxes often becomes in tatters on arrival to us. Sometimes they're soggy as well. All this puts the contents of parcels in a danger.
2. During transportation and processing, parcels (even with fragile content marking) are constantly exposed to the intense physical action. Nobody of us would like to receive its box crumpled. So please use multiple layers of bubble wrap or (much more preferably) thick layer of foam rubber for interlaying (from each side) inside the package to prevent any possible physical damage to the GPD Win 2 and its retail box. Also, the box of parcel should be big enough to contain the GPD Win 2 retail box and interlaying, but there should not be too much of free unused space to avoid the easy piercing of the cardboard under the pressure on the surface of parcel (and to avoid shaking). Chinese senders often neglecting these rules to a sad results. And please put all fragile marks on every side of the parcel anyway, it will help a little as well.
3. Please make sure you specified the full cost of GPD Win 2 on the parcel's face blank and in accompanied documentation in case if someone's parcel will get lost. In this case it will help the receiver to get a full refund from delivery service (and not from you).
4. AN IMPORTANT ONE: last year, there are new customs laws were executed in Russia for an parcels from foreign eshops and services like Indiegogo. Sender should provide the shop links for a commodities inside the parcel and also should provide INN (Russian personal tax reference number) of the receiver. So all of your Russian backer should privately provide you the INNs for a customs and you should provide the link to your Indiegogo campaign. Please contact with each Russian backer for this information before sending their parcels or they may stuck in the customs for a weeks, giving you and your Russian backers unnecessary headache.
If you will follow my recomendations, I'm sure every Russian backer of your campaign will receive its device in safety and time, and it will build up your reputation here. Thank you!

This is only an estimate of the price, because Intel raised the price of 7y30, which is unfavorable to us, we do not know if Intel will continue to raise the price of 7y30 follow-up.
