GPS Locator in the replaceable lid

I live in Barcelona, and pickpockets and crime is common.  I wondered if it would be possible to modify the lid to have a GPS locator that used the main battery.  As an indie or aftermarket project, so that if anyone stole the device it would be easily track-able using GPS.

I would look at making one myself but don't have the tools available, and very little experience.

Do people think this is a good idea for an aftermarket project / product?  And do people think it's possible?

sure you can do this device on cover, but i have no idea about the market...
