USB drive with Windows 10

Has anyone been able to use an external USB optical drive with the windows 10 version of the Pocket PC? I have the latest bios but when I insert the usb cable the dvd player (Samsung SE-208) constantly spins up and down and is never recognised by Windows 10.

maybe it require more power than available on usb port

That's what I was thinking but I was interested to know if anyone has been able to use an external drive on that port, I don't really want to buy another drive just to install one program ( Reason 5 ).

would be nice if the optical drive could be also powered from one external source

maybe you can try with a powered usb hub Wink

All sorted, I bought a J5Create model JCH346 4 port USB-C hub which has a type C power input, so using the power adapter from my Pocket PC I
was able to get the external DVD player to work and get my programs installed. Now to see about installing Ubuntu in a dual boot configuration affraid
